What you need to consider for smooth holidays
When your vacation is almost upon you and the countdown begins you may feel a little nervous about your journey. This is a common situation, so there are several tips you can use to ensure a smooth holiday.
Call to your departure airport before your vacation and ask them how long you should arrive before flight departure. Some airlines expect you to book at least 3 hours before you fly. You want a hassle free check-in so arrive beforehand.
Consider that airport parking is generally very expensive. If you take your car, check the amount of space available at the airport. It’s a good idea to use parking at car parks located on a short distance from the airport, with free transportation to the airline. This gives you more money to spend. Allow enough time to get to the parking area, just in case of a traffic jam, breakdown or accident. Regularly check local radio for signs of circulation problems on the road you take.
People always tend to pack too much in their luggage, even for a short vacation. They find that they are unnecessarily carrying too much that is ultimately not used on holidays. If you go to a hot country, you will not need high shoes, coats or heavy jeans. Take shorts, t-shirts, maybe a pair of trousers for the evening, open-toe sandals and forget the socks!
You will not need a lot of clothes for 7-10 days. Even with two-week vacation, many destinations have laundry facilities, which can be used to wash, dry clean and iron all dirty clothes.
When baggage is being checked in, allow some delay. During peak periods and on popular flights, the delay could become long. It’s a good reason to travel outside of peak days and hours. It may seem an endless wait in the line of luggage, but as you have extra time, there is no need to panic.
